Mabamba Wetlands is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and probably the best in Africa place to see the Shoebill Stork (Balaeniceps rex).The Shoebill Stork gained  the name of “the most sought-after” of all the birds of the African continent. The bird can be seen in different places in Uganda and Mabamba Wetlands (Mpigi District) is without doubt one of the best places! A must for birders!

Day 1 Excursion to Mbamba Wetlands

  • Ref Safari: UG010
  • Min. 2 - max. 3 participants.
  • Excursion available in connection with another safari.
  • Best season during the rains (water level of Lake Victoria).

  • The half day excursion includes: return transport to Mabamba Wetlands, the use of a canoe, safety equipment, the services of a local specialized guide, plenty of mineral water, entry and guide fees. It excludes: tips, personal expenses.

  • What to bring?

    Outfit with adapted colours for birdlife observation, good walking shoes, raingear, sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sun cream, video/photo camera, a 300 mm or longer telelens is very usefull, reserve batteries, films, binoculars.
